MobileCorp has expanded its professional services to include Managed IT. The expansion is a response to concern from customers over escalating cyber threat, and their need to support a hybrid workplace.
Over the past 18 months, and as we move out of pandemic lockdowns, two critical issues have emerged that continue to challenge IT teams -
- network security and business continuity in a climate of heightened cyber threat
- employees needing more remote IT support
MobileCorp expands into Managed IT to meet customer pandemic challenges
MobileCorp's expansion into IT Managed Services arose from the challenges that many of our customers found themselves facing as a result of the pandemic. It is also a natural progression for MobileCorp as the world shifts towards unified connectivity, says Stephen Aravopoulos, managing director of MobileCorp.
"Most businesses with less than 100 employees have limited inhouse IT resource. During the pandemic last year, some of our existing customers asked for help with the wider connectivity challenges they were facing with the remote working shift.
"Now as we come out the other side of the lockdown into a new hybrid workplace era, it seems sensible for us to permanently expand our mobility managed services into providing the broader connectivity services covered by Managed IT."
Stephen Aravopoulos, MobileCorp managing director.
Natural progression from mobile-first to unified connectivity
MobileCorp has been in business for 32 years and has pivoted constantly to keep up with technology shifts. This expansion into IT services is a natural progression as we see the convergence of mobility and networks into a singular unified connectivity focus, says Aravopoulos.
"MobileCorp has the unique advantage of having grown from a connectivity core and a mobile-first focus. This is an advantage as the world shifts at speed towards a distributed workforce, wireless networks, and cloud services.
"It makes MobileCorp perfectly positioned to provide expertise across the entire connectivity experience of an organisation whether on-premises or cloud, wireless or fixed."
Stephen Aravopoulos, MD MobileCorp
MobileCorp IT Managed Service has business covered
The MobileCorp managed IT suite is comprehensive, but customisable to meet the needs of organisations of varying sizes.
"One size does not fit all in IT. We have capability and capacity in all the areas of IT you would expect and will customise our service for each customer."There are also benefits to having one vendor across the connectivity and IT communications infrastructure of an organisation. These include knowledge-sharing, system integration, and producing a unified end user experience."
Eight Specialised IT Service Modules
There are eight modules to the MobileCorp Managed IT service.
Four modules are focused on Systems Management; and four modules are focused on End User Management.
Hybrid workplace spurs a rethink of IT support
The 'hybrid' workplace - with employees increasingly working away from a centralised office - is here to stay.
The initial scramble to get employees set-up to work from anywhere is now long passed. Organisations are now consolidating their infrastructure and systems to support this situation as a 'new normal'.
This has led to an increased focus on desktop management and end user support and heightened interest in Modern Desktop Management platforms like VMware Workspace ONE and Microsoft Intune.
It has also led to a uptake of unified communications solutions like Microsoft 365 as organisations look to seamlessly connect and collaborate regardless of physical location.

Sharpened focus on security and business continuity
At the same time as the remote working shift, there has been a skyrocketing increase in cyberattacks across the globe.
This is particularly worrying for smaller organisations with limited inhouse IT resource. Businesses of all sizes are very aware of the risk they face from bad actors and malware and are increasingly investing in outsourced IT support to mitigate this risk.
"Small to medium organisations often have little limited defences in place when it comes to cyber threats. Making an investment in proactive monitoring, alerting and having a plan in place for business continuity and disaster recovery is essential for organisations of all sizes."
